Welcome to PLAY the FUTURE

PLAY the FUTURE is a video/music initiative born from the spirit launched by the World March for Peace and Nonviolence

The World March will begin in New Zealand on October 2, 2009, the anniversary of Gandhi’s birth, declared the “International Day of Nonviolence” by the United Nations. It will conclude in the Andes Mountains (Punta de Vacas, Aconcagua, Argentina) on January 2, 2010. Open to any person, organization, collective, group, political party, business, etc., that shares the same aspirations and sensibility, this project is not something closed. Instead, it is a journey that will be progressively enriched as different initiatives set their contributions in motion. As it passes through cities there will be all kinds of forums, conferences and events (sporting, cultural, social, etc.) that will be organised according to the local initiatives that are emerging.

The main goal of PLAY the FUTURE is to create a connection and cooperation between artists to spread through the music a global awareness regarding peace and non violence and to call for:

  • the global nuclear disarmament,
  • the immediate retreat of the invading troups from the occupied terriotories,
  • the progressive reduction of arms,
  • the signature of the non-aggression treaties among nations,
  • the renunciation by governments of war as a way to resolve conflicts.

As first step PLAY the FUTURE will involve musicians and bands from all the countries touched by the World March, particularly in the leg from Jerusalem to Geneva (Israel, Palestinian Territory, Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Kosovo, Bosnia Hercegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland).

This is the first proposal of PLAY the FUTURE:

  • recording of the song We want Peace on Earth by Mark Lesseraux, dedicated to message of the March, together with the musicians and the bands from all these countries, during the arrival of the March, between October 28 to November 9;
  • shooting of a short film with interviews and performances and a videoclip with all the involved artists;
  • diffusion of the video on the web and on the music TV channels;
  • diffusion of the song on the radios and web radios of all the involved countries.

Starting from this first proposal, PLAY the FUTURE will continue to stimulate the collaboration of artists who want to spread the issues described above and thus is an open project into the future that has chosen music as a tool of transformation.
